The Connecticut Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA) is pleased to announce that we will welcome Robert J. deBrauwere of Pryor Cashman LLP on November 21, 2017.
Partner Robert deBrauwere will present on “Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & the Law.” Robert is the co-chair of Pryor Cashman’s Digital Media Group and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property, Media + Entertainment and Litigation Groups. His extensive knowledge of the interplay between IP, technology, media, entertainment and music has earned him the role of trusted advisor to cutting-edge companies and influential artists and songwriters. A former computer programmer and sound / lighting engineer, he possesses a keen understanding of how technology and entertainment intersect in the digital world.
Robert serves as outside general counsel to start-ups, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) companies, digital publishing companies, artists, writers and even Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. He has continuously been named to the Super Lawyers – New York Metro list in IP and media + advertising since 2013, and is recognized as a leading attorney in the field of IP, specifically on complex issues pertaining to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), fair use, unfair competition and false advertising laws, among others.
deBrauwere’s presentation will examine augmented and virtual reality, and IP law, particularly some of the challenges they raise and how technology companies can navigate these complexities in the digital era.
