CIPLA is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Jackson, acting director of the USPTO’s Northeast Regional Outreach Office. As Acting Director, Ms. Jackson carries out the strategic outreach direction of the USPTO’s Office of Public Engagement, ensuring that the USPTO’s initiatives and programs are tailored to the region’s unique ecosystem of industries and stakeholders.
During our program, Ms. Jackson will provide an update on USPTO activities, including new and upcoming pilot programs, substantive changes within the USPTO as it relates to examining procedures, and will discuss how the USPTO is implementing the use of generative AI in patent and trademark examination. As a former senior trademark examining attorney, Ms. Jackson will be able to provide unique insights into trademark prosecution and how the new AI searching tools will affect trademark examination. The program will also cover updates and the use of AI with respect to patent examination.
The Northeast Regional Outreach Office, promotes innovation and stimulates the economy by connecting entrepreneurs to government resources, supporting students and teachers through our STEM education programs, gathering feedback from regional stakeholders, educating the public about intellectual property, and recruiting diverse talent from the region.
