The Connecticut Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA) is pleased to announce its first meeting in the 2022-2023 schedule. We are welcoming John W. Thomas, JD, LLM, MPH, Professor of Law at Quinnipiac University, on the following topic:
“The intellectual property implications of Kalamazoo Gals. A Story of the Extraordinary Women and Gibson’s “Banner” Guitars of WWII (American History Press, 2013).” From Feminist Times: “John Thomas’s personal quest to find the lost Kalamazoo gals is endearingly told. This is not just one story but many; finally giving these women their voice, to talk about the guitars they made for a manufacturer that denied they ever existed.” The BBC produced and hour-long documentary on his book. NPR, NBC, Voice of America, etc. also featured stories on the book. A documentary and a dramatic adaptation are in the works.
Please join us for an evening with music, history, and discussions about their relation to intellectual property law.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at The Elm City Club in New Haven, from 6 to 9 pm, including a cocktail hour from 6 to 7 pm.
Please RSVP by November 14, 2022 on the CIPLA website or by emailing CIPLA Program Chair T. David Bomzer at tdbomzer@cantorcolburn.com.
